Policy for Persons with Disabilities
Ensuring Dignity, Equality, and Empowerment
JKNDP is dedicated to creating a barrier-free and inclusive society for Persons with Disabilities (PwD). Our policy is guided by the principles of the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, focusing on **accessibility, inclusive education, social security, and equal opportunity** to ensure that every individual can live a life of dignity and contribute fully to society.
Universal Accessibility
We will launch a mission-mode project to make all public buildings, transport systems, and digital platforms fully accessible. This includes constructing ramps, providing accessible toilets, and ensuring government websites are screen-reader friendly.
Inclusive Education and Skill Development
We will ensure that children with disabilities have access to inclusive education in mainstream schools by providing special educators and assistive technology. Specialized vocational training centers will be established to equip PwD with job-oriented skills.
Employment and Economic Empowerment
We will strictly enforce the reservation policy for PwD in government jobs and launch special recruitment drives. Incentives will be provided to private sector companies that employ persons with disabilities, and support will be given for self-employment ventures.
Enhanced Social Security
The disability pension will be substantially increased and linked to the cost of living index. We will also ensure the universal provision of high-quality assistive aids and devices, such as wheelchairs and hearing aids, free of cost to those in need.
